God at Work within Us: Philippians 2:12–18

Pastor Ray Seto's sermon on March 22nd, 2026.

In this sermon, Pastor Ray Seto explores Philippians 2:12-18, focusing on the Christian's call to work out their salvation through obedience to God.

Key takeaways from the sermon include:

The Nature of Obedience: True obedience to the Father is motivated by an appreciation for Jesus’s love and sacrifice (6:52-7:20). It is not about legalism, but a natural response to being loved by God.

God’s Enabling Grace: The sermon emphasizes that while believers are instructed to work out their salvation, it is God who works in them to both will and work for His good pleasure (9:07-9:42, 11:05-11:23). This provides comfort, as even our ability to obey is a grace and a blessing from God (11:23-12:18).

Living as Lights in this world: Paul calls believers to do all things without grumbling or disputing (19:10-19:27). Doing so allows Christians to shine as lights in a crooked and twisted generation (21:37-22:21).

Holding Fast to the Gospel: A central theme is the importance of holding firmly to the Word of Life (the Gospel of Jesus). This is essential for resisting the deceitfulness of sin and staying on the path of transformation (13:00-14:02, 26:52-27:52).

A Practical Example: Pastor Ray shares his experience with the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF), highlighting how volunteers serving in public schools—despite challenges—demonstrate God at work in them, leading to meaningful eternal impacts on children's lives (31:01-33:51).
