When I am Weak, then I am Strong (1 Samuel 30)

When everything falls apart, where do you find your strength?

In this message from 1 Samuel 30, Pastor Tim Carroll continues our sermon series on 1 & 2 Samuel with a moment of devastating crisis in David’s life — returning home to find Ziklag burned and every family taken captive by the Amalekites. Facing the loss of his wives, his children, and nearly his life as his own men talk of stoning him, David does the one thing that sets him apart: he strengthens himself in Yahweh his God.

Rather than turning to human strength, blame-shifting, or old habits in his weakness, David inquires of the Lord — and God answers, leading him to recover everything. Pastor Tim draws a direct line to Jesus, who in his own moment of utter weakness in Gethsemane also found his strength in the Father — and who, like David with the abandoned Egyptian slave, feeds and restores those the world has chewed up and cast aside.
